OMAHA, Nebraska - The oldest living American on record earlier this month celebrated her 115th birthday.

Thelma Sutcliffe who was born on 1 October 1906 is the oldest person ever documented.

Her age has been documented by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Thelma is the fifth-oldest living validated person in the world whose age has been validated by the GRG, behind only Tekla Juniewicz, Antonia da Santa Cruz, Lucile Randon, and Kane Tanaka.

Omaha woman, the oldest living American, to celebrate quiet 115th birthday

Thelma lives in an assisted living complex in Omaha, Nebraska. Her older sister Marie, who was born in 1904 died in 2011 at the age of 106.

According to Gerontology Wikia the two sisters with a combined age of 221, are one of the oldest pair of siblings on record.
