Nashville Predators forward Matt Duchene will be sidelined three to five weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced Saturday.
Duchene, who was placed on injured reserve, sustained the injury during the third period of the Predators' 5-4 loss to the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
Duchene, 30, has been held off the scoresheet in each of his last eight games. He has eight points (three goals, five assists) in 23 games this season.
He has 50 points (16 goals, 34 assists) in 89 games over the last two seasons with the Predators since signing a seven-year, $56 million deal as a free agent in July 2019.
Duchene has 597 points (248 goals, 349 assists) in 816 career games with the Colorado Avalanche, Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets and Predators. He was selected by the Avalanche with the third overall pick of the 2009 NHL Draft.
Also on Saturday, the Predators recalled Mathieu Olivier and Alexandre Carrier from the taxi squad. Michael McCarron has been re-assigned to the taxi squad and Tanner Jeannot has been sent to Chicago of the American Hockey League.
