Polls estimate Obama's approval among Americans at 50 percent
In the aftermath of the Tucson shooting in Arizona, two new polls taken by CNN/Opinion Research Corporation and ABC News/Washington Post have estimated United States President Barack Obama's approval rating at about 50 percent.
Out of all the Americans surveyed for a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll, 50 percent said they approve of how the president is handling his job, while 51 percent of those surveyed for an ABC News/Washington Post poll also said they approved.
Obama's approval ratings had reached 55 percent in January in a CNN poll conducted just after he delivered his State of the Union address. Another CNN poll, conducted earlier in January, tapped the president's approval rating at 53 percent, as he received positive feedback for his response to the shooting that killed six and injured 13 people, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.).
In the ABC News/Washington Post poll, Obama's approval rating had reached a high of 54 percent in mid-January.
The CNN poll surveyed 1023 adults between March 11-13 and has an error margin of plus or minus 3 percentage points. The ABC News/Post poll was conducted between March 10-13 and surveyed 1005 adults. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points. (ANI)
